As children, I am sure a lot of us thought that a music producer salary would mean a very big figure. Counting zeros after the initial number was always tough. But realistically, just like with every other profession, salaries of music producers vary a great deal. They vary much more than the usual professions such as doctors.

Some music producers are also the owners of the studios that they work in while other music producers are employed by companies. Let us first shed light on music producer salary offered by companies.

Starting making a music producer’s salary by creating your own beats today

The average music producer salary is between the brackets of forty five thousand and sixty thousand dollars a year. The deviation from the average is much more than one can expect. Some music directors make several millions a year while others earn around twenty thousand. Master P for example made around fifty six million dollars last year.

As with every other profession, a music producer salary also depends on several key factors.  The major ones are experience and qualification.

Qualification refers to how qualified you are academically and how well you know the theoretical aspect of the music production. What degree you hold, where you studied from and how you long you have studied for will be greatly weighed. A degree in law will not be considered in the music production industry as it is irrelevant. A degree in sound engineering would be considered very valuable.

Experience is also a major determinant of a music producer salary because, it is assumed, that the more you have worked in industry, the sharper are your skills and the more polished is your talent. Experience is an indicator of the fact that you understand how the theoretical aspect of music production is put to practice. A lot of jobs are given on the basis of experience even though an individual does not have professional qualification.

On the other hand, if we look at music producers who have their own studios, salaries have no limits. The more customers a producer gets, the more a producer makes. A benefit of working for someone else is that the salary fixed whether there are customers or not.

Development in technology has led to an emergence of a new set of music producers. These are the home grown music producers. Instead of an expensive studio, all one has to do is spend a few dollars on a music production program and you are set to go. Some well known music production programs are Sonic Producer, Beats 365 and Music Producer Pro. If you are new to music production, these software are definitely recommended. Install the program on your computer and music production can begin.

A benefit of working with software is that they are affordable to you, the music producer, and your customers will also pay less. For the start, it’s a good idea to charge a low amount. As you grow, you may increase that amount.

You may gain publicity by writing blog, joining social networking sites and also putting up your own website. With over a billion people on the internet, you are bound to get customers. Also let your friends know what you are up to so that they may do word of mouth publicity for you.

A million dollar music producer salary is possible if you have the talent and consistency. Hard work always pays off. Be positive and trust yourself and your talent. It only takes one out standing track to put you in the limelight.

Also you don’t need a degree to be a music producer…Pretty sure Berry Gordie And Timbaland Don’t have degrees..I can up in a time when there were no collages that offered degree in music production its funny to see em now on tv and they cost an arm and a leg too..Do it the old fashion way and just intern at a studio it the best way to learn….Also how did master p make that kind of money last year ???That more thats P. Diddy and he’s way more relavent then Master P … Your full of it bye///

Interesting point of view, “Yo!Mama”. I agree some do very well that way, and others take a different path. There’s no right or wrong way, just get out there and make great music at the end of the day. I hope you are doing well with your career.
