I meet people all the time who either aspire to be a music producer, claim to be one, or are well on their way to becoming a music producer. There are a couple of questions that you need to ask yourself before taking the leap to become the next Timbaland, Rick Rueben or Jermaine Dupri.

7 Questions for any music producer:

1.) Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?
2.) What are you current favorite artist(s)?
3.) Have you ever played or performed as a musician?
4.) Why does becoming a music producer interest you?
5.) What are you ultimate goals as music producer?
6.) How do you view your artistic abilities?
7.) How do you want others to view your artisitic abilities?

If you take a moment to answer these questions, you will have some obvious answers to yourself if becoming a music producer is a good path for you. There are so many different thing finite things that people like to worry about and focus on like song arrangement, studio recording, making beats, current trends, or song genres.

It can be really helpful for you to take a step back for a moment, and think about the big picture for a second. It can really put what you are doing into perspective. After answering these questions, it might inspire you to begin to make a plan for yourself.

Every once and a while, it is healthy to think of the end of your game. There is plenty of time to focus on how to get there.
